- Insulin – this hormone regulates energy storage and tells fat cells to hold on to the fact they already carry. High insulin levels play a role in obesity
- Medications – prescription medications can often have weight gain as a side effect
- Leptin resistance – this is another hormone that plays a big role in obesity due to it being produced by fat cells and blood levels, which increase in those with a higher fat mass
